The book is about different stories in the life of Don Camillo, a village prest after World War 2 who has amusing conversations with God and tries to live life with a communist mayor and party, who have taken power in the village. The omnibus marks Don Camillo's clashes with Peppone, the communist mayor, and the other communists in the city throughout the town. It's very funny and the conversations that he has with God are very amusing and realistic. This concept of talking to God is very original and a good read.

The original Don Camillo Omnibus from 1955 is a great book to read. I unfortunatley ordered a version from Benediction Books and found the following problems:1) The omnibus contains 4 books. Two of these books had approximately 50% of the original chapters missing.2) There was a section of 20 pages that was badly printed and then duplicated.My advice is to stay away from this edition and buy the old 1955 version.

I've just received a slice of my childhood!!!We owned the book in 1954 and I thought it was lost forever. Thanks I now have it back. A great little book of stories that take you back to a far simpler life.
