Finding I could request and read the manga version of this by the talented Stacy King and Manga Classics, (see my review for upcoming Manga Classics: The Jungle Book here on Good Reads), I just had to request it and give it a read. The cover was stunning and I really wanted to see more of the beautiful artwork done in this series.I was so taken aback by how beautiful this was. The character designs were so beautiful I found my heart leapt with each page turn. I couldn’t get enough of the sisters designs, or any of the characters. Po Tse has created such stunning character designs and has brought this book to life with such talent it amazes me. To my knowledge, Stacy King has adapted this brilliantly from the novel and it’s definitely made me more excited to read the original by Jane Austen.This story moved me to tears so may times. I related to Marianne too much for my own liking and it truly hurt my soul to see her so hurt. It’s good to know men have always been utter c-cks, even back then. As I turned each page, all I wanted was for each girl to feel good and happy and honestly, I couldn’t get enough of it. I read it in one sitting, from cover to cover, and I read it hungrily. I absolutely devoured this and I would definitely recommend this if you want to read Sense and Sensibility, but don’t have the time or want to know what it’s about before you dive in.

Like all the other great classic adaptations, this one is no exception.

Jane Austen is a genius of her time and this manga definitely makes her justice!The story line of Sense and Sensibility is widely known. A low-class family of three sisters have their life turned upside down when their father dies prematurely, leaving his fortune to his next male relative. Their story takes place in the 17th century England, where the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, will learn about love, heartbreak, secrets in a time where appearances, fortune and good matches are key for a positive future.This manga is simply beautiful. The adaptation is great, keeping not only the main events of the novel but also details that made me reconnect with these beautiful and courageous women. The drawings are also beautifully made. I could definitely feel the chemistry between Elinor and Edward and Marianne and Mr. Willougby and Coronal Brandon. I could see the emotions in each character and for me they were really nicely represented. The details on the dresses, the carriages and the house interiors were amazing to see and it really helped getting into the story.I have loved every single Manga Classic so far and I’m very excited to see which classic is coming next!This review was originally published on NetGalley.

Excellent manga rendition of Austen's classic novel

This manga illustrates Jane Austen's novel with unexptected depth and precision, the art is excellent and I can only recommend it, and I think even Jane Austen would be pleased with the outcome.
