Good translation of one of the world's most important literary oeuvres

What can I say. The anglofone wold has never taken to Goethe the artist (nor indeed the scientist) because we don't do German literature, but in other cultures he is seen as a rival to Shakespeare and Sophocles. This is a good translation of what is of course hard to translate - poetry. You may want to begin with his Faust however and also his lyrical poetry before coming to this
