After 'The Sufis', also by Shah, I find this to be a very important book for me. I often return to it- always to gain some new insight. It's pretty shocking to me that a book of worthless s*** like the alchemist can have so many reviews when something of absolute gold like this can have one. Now figure the reason the world is as it is. Just get it and read it and grow!

Knowing How to Know may well turn out to be the most important book of this century. It is the first book, as far as I am aware, to provide the nutrition required for further evolution without any outdated religious or 'new age' trappings at all. This might prove to be the essential foundation upon which spirituality can be fostered. Furthermore, as per the needs of a global age, it also contains material designed to provoke the capacity to predict trends in the evolution of a rapidly changing society. In this sense it is a 'mirror for princes', upon which our future survival may depend.

This book combines anecdotes, stories, surmises, sketches and ideas to build up an impact of considerable strength. The book is about learning how to begin learning. It is one which cuts through the pretensions and gloss of modern life and academic traditions to aim straight to the heart of a matter. There is much that we can learn about society and ourselves from this book.
